Brickinfo News Agency – Bangkok Governor Chadchart Sittipunt highlighted the transformative impact of the Traffy Fondue platform at the City Transformers Awards, revealing that average citizen complaint resolution times have plummeted from two months to just 1.9 days. Speaking at the Pullman King Power Bangkok, Chadchart emphasized a people-centric approach to smart city development, cautioning against blind reliance on technology and outlining future plans to integrate artificial intelligence with city CCTVs for automated urban problem detection.

Addressing the Traffy Fondue: City Transformers Awards, organized by the National Science and Technology Development Agency (NSTDA) under the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation (MHESI), Chadchart reflected on the platform’s utility since his first term. He noted that while bureaucratic processes inherently lag behind the rapid technological advancements described by Moore’s Law, adopting the right technological tools allows government systems to keep pace with change. However, he warned against becoming overly obsessed with the concept of a smart city. According to the governor, urban development must place citizens at the center rather than the technology itself, ensuring that any adopted system genuinely addresses public needs.

Chadchart referenced Ben Green’s book, The Smart Enough City, noting its strict alignment with the philosophy behind Traffy Fondue. He outlined three critical factors for successful urban tech: meeting public demand, technical feasibility, and appropriate budgeting. He highlighted that the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA) developed the system without requiring new budget allocations, thanks to support from the NSTDA. This contrasts with past BMA applications that consumed limited budgets but failed to gain traction because they ignored real user behavior.

The governor addressed the historical lack of trust between the public and the government, citing past perceptions of corruption, under-the-table money, and general inefficiency. Previously, a complaint required up to seven signatures before reaching the governor, creating a bottleneck that eroded public confidence. By removing gatekeepers, Traffy Fondue established a scalable, 24/7 system that allows direct action and citizen feedback. Statistics show that 61% of complaints are submitted outside official working hours. The platform has also proven vital during emergencies, such as a recent earthquake incident in Bangkok, where it facilitated the rapid structural inspection of over 20,000 buildings to reassure residents.

“Many Bangkok officials felt happy using Traffy Fondue because they felt they had never received compliments from the public before. At the same time, the seriousness of the management is also an important factor,” Chadchart stated.

He emphasized that the submission of over 1.34 million complaints reflects growing public trust, as citizens now believe their issues will actually be resolved. Regarding the future of technology, he cautioned against overestimating artificial intelligence, suggesting it should be viewed as an “Intelligent Assistant” (IA) since it cannot formulate questions without human prompts.

Looking ahead, the BMA plans to tackle operational loopholes, such as officials using artificial intelligence to manipulate photos to falsely claim a job is finished. Future developments will involve integrating artificial intelligence with the city’s CCTV network to automatically detect uncollected garbage and generate reports without human intervention. This data-driven approach aims to further streamline city management and support continuous urban development.

Brickinfo News Agency – True Corporation has emerged as the highest-ranked Thai company in the TIME World’s Most Sustainable Companies 2026 ranking, securing the 160th position globally with a score of 79.22. The new ranking marks a rise from the company’s 191st position in 2025. Compiled by TIME in partnership with Statista, the list highlights True’s ongoing transition toward becoming an AI-first organization while maintaining its focus on digital infrastructure development and environmental responsibility.

The ranking comes as True accelerates its integration of artificial intelligence across its business operations. The company is managing energy consumption across its networks and deploying AI systems to optimize energy management at its base stations to minimize environmental impact. These efforts align with True’s Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) validated Net Zero target, alongside its goals to expand technological access and narrow the digital divide in Thailand.

Sigve Brekke, Group Chief Executive Officer of True Corporation Plc., stated that companies need resilience across every dimension amid economic uncertainty, geopolitical shifts, and rapid technological changes. “As True moves toward becoming an AI-first organization, we must transform with speed, while also moving forward responsibly. Sustainability is the foundation that enables us to do both,” Brekke said. He added that the company aims to manage energy efficiently, ensure responsible AI usage in its products and services, and strengthen AI skills for its employees and 12 million people across Thailand.

True’s sustainability framework incorporates environmental, social, and governance (ESG) principles into its daily operations. Dr. Naetchanok Wipatasinlapin, Chief Sustainability Officer of True Corporation Plc., noted that the company’s foundation for sustainable business practices was established by Suphachai Chearavanont, Chairman of the Board of Directors. Dr. Wipatasinlapin also pointed out that True has been recognized among the Top 1% in the global telecommunications industry by S&P Global for the eighth consecutive year.

To support its operational shift, True has introduced a Responsible AI policy. This internal framework establishes formal standards for AI adoption across the organization, ensuring that the deployment of new technologies remains auditable, transparent, and compliant with human rights standards. The company continues to focus its digital and AI development on enhancing digital safety, supporting educational initiatives, and expanding access to technology across the country.

Brickinfo News Agency – Worldwide data center electricity consumption is projected to grow by 26% in 2026, reaching a total of 565 terawatt-hours (TWh), primarily fueled by the rapid integration and expansion of artificial intelligence technologies.

The forecast, published by Gartner, highlights a significant jump from the 447 TWh recorded in 2025. Alongside electricity usage, total data center power demand is expected to rise by 27% in 2026 to reach 132 gigawatts (GW), up from 104 GW the previous year. This accelerated growth trajectory is heavily driven by the unprecedented scale and pace of generative AI deployments, which are estimated to push global power demand to 290 GW by 2030.

The shift toward specialized hardware is a major contributing factor to this energy surge. According to the data, AI-optimized servers will account for 31% of total data center power consumption in 2026. This trend is moving so rapidly that by 2027, the energy required to run these specialized AI systems is expected to completely surpass the power consumption of conventional servers.

Linglan Wang, Director Analyst at Gartner, explained the market dynamics, stating, “Surging demand for compute-intensive AI workloads is driving unprecedented data center power growth, while AI capacity is now constrained by power availability.” Wang noted that this reality makes data center power security the new battleground for scaling operations and protecting margins in the global AI race.

Looking toward the end of the decade, the industry faces an energy-constrained future. With long-term data center electricity consumption estimated to exceed 1,200 TWh by 2030, existing grid supplies are anticipated to be insufficient to meet the demands of future infrastructure construction. To navigate this, Wang advised that infrastructure and operations leaders must prioritize efficiency upgrades and secure grid access, adding that they need to invest in high-efficiency cooling systems and edge computing to mitigate power constraints and ensure sustainable, scalable growth.

Brickinfo News Agency – Online gaming platform Roblox has launched its age-based Roblox Kids and Roblox Select accounts globally, introducing stricter protections, mandatory age-checks for communication, and expanded parental controls in Thailand and other international markets. The global rollout automatically places users into designated account types based on their age to restrict content maturity and social features, following initial releases in Australia, Indonesia, the Netherlands, and New Zealand.

Under the new system, games targeting users under 16 years old must undergo additional moderation, and developers are required to complete ID verification and secure accounts with two-factor authentication. The platform has restricted games containing free-form drawing, social hangouts, and sensitive issues from these accounts, while also disabling the gameplay clip-sharing feature, Roblox Moments, for Kids and Select users. Furthermore, social media links are now restricted across profiles, game detail pages, community pages, and the Creator Hub, making them visible and shareable only to age-verified users aged 16 and older.

Social capabilities have been linked strictly to verification, as unverified accounts cannot access chat regardless of the user’s self-declared age. Once an age-check is completed, users can only communicate with similar age groups or designated “Trusted Friends,” supported by automated text filters and continuous monitoring. For users younger than nine, chat features are disabled by default, though parents of children aged five to eight can manually adjust settings to permit text-only communication within restricted age groups.

“The new accounts offer additional opportunities for parental involvement and oversight, shared experiences, and access to resources for online safety. When combined with active parenting and open communication, these features can help families develop healthy technology habits at home and foster more positive online interactions,” said Dr. Anuradha Rao, a member of Roblox’s Global Parent Council. She added that as a busy parent, she appreciates tools that simplify staying involved in a child’s digital life while prioritizing safety and wellbeing.

The update expands the suite of parental controls available through linked guardian accounts, varying by the child’s age bracket. Parents of children under 13 can monitor friend lists, manage trusted friend requests, and enforce screen-time and spending limits. For users up to 16 years old, parents retain the ability to alter chat configurations and block specific games, while accounts for teens aged 16 to 18 shift control to the user but provide parents with spending notifications and screen-time insights. Platform verification for standard accounts for individuals aged 16 or older relies on official ID uploads or secure Facial Age Estimation.

Brickinfo News Agency – Thailand luxury hotel transactions reached a notable THB 2.2 billion in 2025, driven by strong market fundamentals and a significant shift in traveler preferences. Across the Asia Pacific region, the appetite for high-end hospitality assets has surged, with luxury hotel investments climbing to $2.1 billion. This reflects a broader trend of investors targeting premium properties that offer both resilience and long-term capital growth, even as the Thai market faces supply constraints due to tightly held assets.

According to data from JLL, the transaction volume for luxury hotels in Asia Pacific rose by 77% between 2017 and 2025. The 2025 figures represent the highest investment deployment into this sector since 2019, when transactions exceeded $2.4 billion. Luxury properties accounted for nearly 20% of all regional hotel deals in 2025, a steep increase from the 8% share recorded in 2017. In Thailand, while luxury assets made up 19.2% of the total sales volume since 2017, they represented only 7.9% of transaction activity, highlighting a market where long-term owners are reluctant to sell despite robust investor interest. Key deals included a shareholder buyout in central Bangkok and the sale of a 51% equity stake in the InterContinental Bangkok.

Pimpanga Yomchinda, Executive Vice President of Investment Sales for Asia Pacific at JLL Hotels & Hospitality Group, noted that the luxury segment is experiencing a defining moment. “We’re seeing sustained appetite from an increasingly diverse investor base, including private wealth and cross-border capital, all seeking exposure to assets that combine prestige, capital preservation, and long-term growth fundamentals,” she stated. This sustained demand is partly due to the narrowing occupancy gap between luxury and mainstream accommodations, proving that high-end hotels are now year-round performers.

The evolution of the luxury hospitality market is also evident in development and performance metrics. In Thailand, properties across Bangkok, Phuket, and Samui have seen double-digit growth in Average Daily Rate (ADR) since 2019. Operators are increasingly focusing on lifestyle luxury concepts and mixed-use developments, such as One Bangkok, Dusit Central Park, and the Narai Group’s Hatai project. The entry of new brands like Aman Nai Lert, Andaz One Bangkok, and the relaunch of the Dusit Thani Hotel have pushed ultra-luxury ADR ceilings closer to THB 15,000, up from approximately THB 10,000 before the pandemic.

Chanavudh Vanachaivong, Head of Hotels Advisory for Thailand at JLL Hotels & Hospitality Group, emphasized this structural shift. “The luxury hospitality landscape has fundamentally evolved. We’re seeing properties adapt to changing guest preferences while maintaining the premium positioning that makes them attractive investment assets,” he said. Despite operating costs that are nearly double those of the broader hotel market, luxury properties in the region continue to achieve comparable gross operating profit margins, demonstrating significant pricing power and operational efficiency.

Brickinfo News Agency – A new research paper published by the Thammasat University Research and Consultancy Institute (TURAC) urges Thai policymakers to modernise the country’s ride-hailing sector through digitalized regulations and simplified registration processes. The study highlights that while Thailand has made strides in formalising the industry, practical barriers continue to hinder drivers from achieving full legal compliance, ultimately impacting overall passenger safety and regulatory oversight.

The publication, titled Unlocking the Potential of Thailand’s Ride-Hailing Sector: Safety, Competition, and Economic Opportunity in the Digital Age, reviews the progress made since the implementation of the 2021 Ministerial Regulation on Electronic Vehicle-Hailing Services. This original framework introduced mandatory background checks, vehicle standards, and data management obligations to protect consumers. However, TURAC points out that complex administrative procedures, stringent vehicle financing conditions, and insurance requirements remain major obstacles for everyday drivers trying to enter the legal system.

The research emphasizes that transitioning toward an end-to-end digital registration process is critical for the industry. TURAC recommends the swift development of an integrated platform capable of issuing electronic public driving licences (e-Licences), which would combine identity verification and criminal background checks into a single system. This shift aims to reduce bureaucratic friction, support the national digital economy agenda, and bring a larger percentage of flexible labor into the formal, regulated network.

“Ride-hailing is no longer just an alternative tech innovation; it has evolved into a critical digital economic infrastructure supporting the livelihoods and earnings of hundreds of thousands of citizens,” said Dr. Suthikorn Kingkaew, economist and project lead from TURAC. “Thailand has made significant progress in establishing a framework that protects consumers and improves accountability in the ride-hailing sector. The next challenge is ensuring that regulatory systems remain effective, practical and accessible so that more drivers can participate legally while maintaining high standards of safety.”

Dr. Suthikorn further stated that the ongoing discussion should move past whether the sector requires supervision, noting, “The question is no longer whether ride-hailing should be regulated. The question is how to design regulations that achieve public policy objectives while remaining practical for citizens to comply with.”

To resolve the current compliance gap, the paper suggests that regulators collaborate directly with financial institutions, insurance providers, and platform operators to create flexible financial products tailored to gig-economy workers. Furthermore, the institute advocates for outcome-based regulation, advising authorities to focus strictly on measurable metrics regarding passenger safety and consumer protection, rather than enforcing rigid, outdated administrative rules that stifle technological innovation.

“Modernising regulatory processes through digital tools can help achieve an important balance between safety, compliance and economic opportunity,” Dr. Suthikorn added. “By making registration more accessible and efficient, Thailand can strengthen oversight while supporting the continued development of its digital economy.”
