การเปิดโปงดังกล่าวมาจากการวิเคราะห์ข้อมูลไดเรกทอรีการทำงานของผู้โจมตีขนาด 407 MB จำนวน 2,616 ไฟล์ ครอบคลุมเครื่องมือ บันทึกการทำงาน และประวัติคำสั่ง โดยรายงานของ Hunt.io ระบุว่า มีอุปกรณ์ 12,324 หมายเลข IP ถูกโจมตีด้วยการเจาะรหัสผ่าน ขณะที่อีก 1,923 เครื่องถูกเข้าถึงผ่านช่องโหว่ข้ามการยืนยันตัวตน และมีการฝังบัญชีผู้ใช้งานแบบถาวร นอกจากนี้ยังพบอุปกรณ์อีก 283 เครื่องที่ถูกเจาะระบบผ่านทางเส้นทางรีเลย์ P2P โดยอาศัยเพียงหมายเลขซีเรียลของอุปกรณ์ แม้จะติดตั้งอยู่หลังระบบ Network Address Translation (NAT) ก็ตาม

The album’s sound blends modern pop with rock guitar riffs. Frontman Lauri Ylönen noted that the message of Weirdo is consistent with the band’s first album from 1996: to “defend and praise the ones who are different from the masses.” Ylönen has previously stated that he has often felt like an outsider and has been called a “weirdo,” which he has since come to see as a source of strength. He explains, “All the people I find exciting and inspiring are somehow strange. We, the Weirdos, unite and feed off people’s judging attitudes.”

The album’s title track, “Weirdo,” was the first song written for the project. According to Ylönen, it established the concept for the entire album. Lee Jennings of The Funeral Portrait, who is featured on the track, described it as an “anthem for the outcasts.” Jennings added, “Working with such an iconic band has been awesome, and now we’re hitting the road together across Europe.”

The writing and production of the album involved a number of collaborators. Most of the songs were written by Ylönen with Desmond Child and Marti Fredriksen in Greece. The band then worked on demos in Finland before recording the final tracks in Nashville at Fredriksen’s Sienna Studios. Additional mixing and production work was handled by Chris Baseford, Claudius Mittendorfer, and Joseph McQueen.

In July, The Rasmus performed as the sole foreign artist at the Atlas Festival in Ukraine, a charity event that drew over 110,000 attendees. The festival had comprehensive security measures in place. The event raised over $2.5 million for Ukraine’s air defenses. Ylönen said of the experience, “Going back to Ukraine really hit us hard. The people there are just incredible. Their strength, their spirit, the way they come together…it’s powerful to see and even more powerful to feel.”

The band is set to continue their “Weirdo Tour” across Europe this fall, with additional dates for 2026 being announced. They recently concluded a North American tour with The Funeral Portrait.

Ylönen shared his perspective on “Love Is A Bitch,” stating, “This song was always a wildcard. It never fit with the rest of the songs. Still, we thought it was a fun song to play and I’m glad we decided to put it on the album. Lyrically, it’s about someone who’s treating you like shit but is too good in bed to let go.” He also elaborated on the album’s title and its core message, emphasizing the band’s long-standing philosophy of defending and praising individuality. “I find it comforting that our 11th album, ‘Weirdo,’ has pretty much the same message as on our first album released in 1996,” Ylönen said. “It is to defend and praise the ones who are different from the masses and proudly being themselves as they are. It has been our philosophy from the very beginning.”

The Rasmus is also scheduled to perform a charity concert in Ukraine on July 19 as the sole foreign artist headlining the Atlas Festival. The band aims to support Ukraine, with over 60,000 attendees expected at the event, which will feature a comprehensive security and evacuation plan. Last year, the festival raised over two million euros for various charitable causes in Ukraine. Lauri Ylönen commented on the upcoming performance, stating, “It’s scary to play in the middle of war, but we want to show our support for the Ukrainian people. We have a massive fan base in Ukraine and we’ve also previously done a joint song with the Ukrainian Eurovision winner Kalush Orchestra.” The Rasmus, a 6x Platinum and 8x Gold-certified band, holds the position of the #1 rock band in their native Finland across Spotify, YouTube, Instagram, and Deezer.
