Brickinfo News Agency – The 1st Army Area Operations Center has issued a comprehensive summary regarding the escalation of the Thailand-Cambodia border conflict in Sa Kaeo province on December 8, 2025. Following the reinforcement of troops and heavy weaponry by Cambodian forces near the border, small arms fire was directed into Thai territory at Ban Nong Chan. This provocation necessitated a response from the Burapha Force, which launched a military operation to defend national sovereignty, successfully retaking three strategic border areas. The conflict has forced the evacuation of over 9,630 civilians to temporary shelters. While three Thai soldiers sustained injuries, the violence also resulted in the death of an elderly monk due to heart failure induced by the shock of artillery noise.

The situation intensified in the afternoon when small arms fire from the Cambodian side targeted Ban Nong Chan in Khok Sung district. Thai forces responded with strategic maneuvers to reclaim sovereignty over Ban Nong Chan, Ban Nong Ya Kaeo, and Ban Khlong Phaeng in Ta Phraya district. Military inspections later confirmed that while heavy clashes occurred, there was no evidence of the Cambodian forces utilizing BM-21 multiple rocket launchers.

To provide a clear understanding of the rapid developments, the operations center has released a chronological timeline of the events on December 8, 2025:

05:50: The 1st Army Area Commander issued an initial order to evacuate civilians from the risk areas along the Sa Kaeo border.

07:40: SMS alerts were broadcast to residents, instructing them to move to temporary shelters immediately.

12:10: Public health officials in Sa Kaeo announced the temporary suspension of services at hospitals in four districts to prepare for potential mass casualties from the fighting.

13:40: Small arms fire from the Cambodian side was detected entering Ban Nong Chan. The Burapha Force responded according to the rules of engagement.

14:20: Thai forces executed strategic maneuvers to retake three areas of sovereignty: Ban Nong Chan, Ban Nong Ya Kaeo, and Ban Khlong Phaeng.

14:30: An 82-year-old monk at Wat Noen Somboon in Ta Phraya district passed away from heart failure caused by shock from the sound of heavy artillery.

15:59: One soldier from Task Force 11 was injured by shrapnel from Cambodian supporting fire in Ta Phraya district.

17:00: Task Force 12 successfully seized and controlled Ban Praichan, located opposite Ban Nong Ya Kaeo.

17:59: Two soldiers from Task Force 12 were injured by the blast force of supporting fire in Ban Nong Ya Kaeo, Khok Sung district.

The engagement resulted in injuries to three Thai military personnel. Sgt. Noppachai Khlangsaeng of the 112th Infantry Regiment suffered shrapnel wounds to the mouth and chest. Sgt. Teerawat Wongduang of the 2nd Engineer Battalion experienced chest tightness and tinnitus, while Sgt. Maj. Sirawit Amamoon, also of the 2nd Engineer Battalion, suffered hip injuries. All three were transported to Ta Phraya Hospital and Watthana Nakhon Hospital and are confirmed to be safe.

Civilian safety remains a priority. Administrative officials in Sa Kaeo have evacuated a total of 9,630 residents to shelters across five districts, including Ta Phraya, Khok Sung, Aranyaprathet, and Khlong Hat. Lt. Gen. Worayot Lueasuwan, Commander of the 1st Army Area, and Maj. Gen. Benjaphol Dechathiwong Na Ayutthaya, Commander of Burapha Force, are closely monitoring the situation. They have affirmed that all units are at maximum readiness to protect Thai sovereignty and are coordinating with local sectors to ensure the safety of the public.
